Christmas Traditions

Dan and I have been talking a lot lately of the traditions that surround Christmas. In discussing many of them, we have come to the conclusion that the modern methods of observing so many of these traditions actually stand in stark contrast to the reason why the particular tradition began to be observed in the first place.

While researching the fascinating origins of so many of these traditions, we began to find the topic very interesting, and worthy of contemplaiting.

While I hope to try to relate the origins of several traditions, this neither means that we are choosing to endorse them, or to toss them out. Basically, we were interested in examining them for their historical value. Then we hope this helps us as we decide what we want to relate to our girls, and what traditions we will incorporate into our own family celebrations, and which ones we will reject.
