This is the infamous football team. Their last home game of the 08 season was this past Saturday, and we went to take photos.
They lost, but my dad (who is one of the coaches and so should know) says that it was a much better game than some of their other recent games.
I certainly enjoyed some moments of the game very much. For example, just as we got there (shortly before half-time) we got to see Tyler Declue score a touchdown, or home run, or whatever they call it in football. He’s the fellow running with the ball in the following photo. That was exciting.
Then there’s Laramie Camerer (#7), who made this very exciting tackle.
Here is Steven Toddy, doing something which was certainly both helpful and exciting. There’s probably even a name for this, but for now, we can call it “Running with the football, while suavely keeping the enemy at arms length“.
Then, there was the time when the entire team got the ball and surrounded John (a special member of the team) and helped him push through enemy lines to get the ball where it was supposed to go. I think this move is called a two-point conversion.
Then there’s Zion. Waiting intensely for the right moment to toss the ball. Doesn’t he look sharp and ready to go? This picture reminds me a bit of a bird dog, pointing at it’s prey.
And that’s Zion (#66) in the midst of a tackle, or skirmish, or something.
All in all, it was a very interesting game to watch, and I’m starting to pick up on some of the finer points of the sport. Or at least I managed to not cheer for the wrong guys during most of this game.
